ABOUT PAGMT

The Palo Alto Girls Math Tournament (PAGMT)

is a math competition for 4th to 8th grade girls.

Hosted by a group of Paly students, we hope

to inspire prospective mathematicians with

a challenging yet enjoyable competition.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHERE WILL PAGMT BE HELD?

PAGMT will be held in-person at Palo Alto High School's Media Arts Center building on May 22nd, 2026 from 4:30 to 8:00 PM PT. Students can check in starting at 4:15 PM.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

PAGMT is free to attend and is open to all girls from 4th to 8th grade, not just limited to PAUSD Students.

WHAT IS THE CONTEST FORMAT?

The contest will be a 60 minute long individual exam. Problems will be free response and will cover algebra, geometry, combinatorics, probability, and number theory. This year, there will be a separate test for middle schoolers and elementary schoolers.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Contestants may use writing utensils and erasers. Notably, rulers, compasses, protractors, calculators, or any other computation device is not allowed. Blank paper will be provided during the competition.
